On a moral front, it is quite unacceptable. The single exception is where the fetus would harm the mother. Frankly, I think taking an abortion because a child as some congenital disability is horrific.
Also, given that at fertilisation the DNA sequences are determined, the single zygote contains a whole range of specific, individual traits (depending on how far you believe nature over nurture). That individual can only exist once (unless fertilisation happens millions of times) and so it seems quite destructive to remove it like one would have a wart frozen off.
