Do you think abortion is same as murdering?

I think killing a baby in the womb before birth or killing him after birth, is same. Abortion should be considered as murder because we are killing someone who has potential of life.
what are your thoughts?

Potential for life is always an interesting concept.

Catholics use the same argument against contraception (although I accept that you haven't).

Would you consider it wrong in all circumstances? Even when there is a medical risk to the mother, for example? Or the child would be severely handicapped?

I think it is absolutely acceptable if the women gets pregnant as a result of rape or if its medically not recommended. But people who get pregnant through lack of contraception and then decide to abort the child, should be punished.

This is such a tough question. My personal beliefs are these...if the mother is in grave danger, she should have the choice to be able to have an abortion or to go ahead with the pregnancy even if it means losing her own life. If the child is severely malformed or will have massive uncorrectable problems, the mother should have that choice. I don't believe in abortion as a method of birth control, not at all when there are so many other choices available.

I agree that killing a baby that would be able to live outside the womb is wrong, so i think the law should be changed from under 24 weeks to at least 22 as i think that is the age of the youngest baby to survive?
I do agree with early abortions as a woman should have the right to choose, especially in certain circumstances such as rape.

On a moral front, it is quite unacceptable. The single exception is where the fetus would harm the mother. Frankly, I think taking an abortion because a child as some congenital disability is horrific.

Also, given that at fertilisation the DNA sequences are determined, the single zygote contains a whole range of specific, individual traits (depending on how far you believe nature over nurture). That individual can only exist once (unless fertilisation happens millions of times) and so it seems quite destructive to remove it like one would have a wart frozen off.

Abortion is definitely murder. But when the pregnancy poses danger to the mother, or the baby can have severe medical problems i think it should be recommened.

It should be banned as a method of birth control.Maybe that will help nurture more responsible citizens!

There are many other means of birth control. But people just dont care for it and the innocent fetus has to suffer due to their irresponsibility.

I feel that no one should ever be made to give up control of their own body, and what they choose to do with the body they have been given. Everyone's morals are different, and while I personally do not support abortion, I do support an individual's right to make a choice for themselves.

I rather agree with you Louise. Imo the maximum age for abortion should be decided by a referendum. But one with a difference: only women shoud be allowed to vote.

Back to the question posed: No abortion is certainly not murder.
